On the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of Achille’s birth, Flos recalls this revolutionary object and produces a Limited Edition in a numbered series of 2,500 pieces.
Among the most loved and best-known objects from brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, a prominent place in the collective memory undoubtedly goes to the Toio floor lamp, designed in 1962. Consisting of the playful pairing of a car headlight and a telescopic stem inspired by a fishing rod, the lamp owes its name to the ironic distortion of the English word toy, and takes on the magic of such an object for the adult world.
The special edition is characterised by the special matt black embossed finish of the steel base, the third unmistakable element of the lamp, which houses the visible transformer, exceptionally painted in black colour, too.
It is also equipped with a new Led reflector, designed especially, which replaces the original headlight, faithfully respecting its shape. Its light intensity can be adjusted thanks to the integrated dimmer on the cable.
